Job Summary

The Senior Sales Engineer - Strategic routinely engages both internally and externally with Director, VP and C-level staff providing critical perspective and guidance on strategy, investments and innovation drawing upon their depth and breadth of technical and business impact knowledge. This position works closely with the Account teams to provide outstanding technical solutions and designs to our current and potential customers. The Senior Sales Engineer will work with the customer teams based on a strategic account plan. The goal will be to facilitate on-going projects, help to start new initiatives and sell Lightpath solutions. Since the Senior Sales Engineer augments and assists both strategic accounts and sales teams, experience as a technical leader is a requirement. Sales acumen, IT industry experience, and previous technical account management roles are all critical requirements for the Senior Sales Engineer. Has already established high level customer relationships and is comfortable working at the C-level.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strong relationships with Engineering, Operations, Offer/Product Management & Service Assurance Teams.
  • Represent Customer and Lightpath viewpoints in product scoping, development and design process.
  • Think outside of the box to create a strategic vision for serviceable and supportable products.
  • Define detailed technical requirements for product supportability and assess the products against those requirements.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert focused on specific product sets.
  • Coordinate and Project Manage Launch readiness activities, such as training.
  • Ability to see and present "the big picture" and offer solutions for improvement.
  • An understanding of the financial and technical challenges of customer requirements and Lightpath capabilities.
  • The ability to articulate and understand Lightpath's technology and the benefits that can be achieved in customer environments.
  • Strong understanding of competitive technologies, competitor positioning, and emerging technologies that could be both cooperative and competitive.
  • Responsible for participating and successfully completing all companywide mandates/training in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all Ethics and professional standards.
  • Complies with all corporate and organizational security policies and guidelines.
  • Abides by all policies and procedures.
  • Performs a myriad of tasks as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or experience in relevant field preferred.
  • Overall Experience: 15+ years.
  • Balance of both strong technical and strong strategic skills. Willing to get into deep, technical details, but also able to see the big picture and make educated trade-off decisions without getting bogged down by the details.
  • Able to develop trusted relationships, a strong internal network and use influence to drive change.
  • Displays situational fluency and perseverance to handle challenging business situations.
  • Able to negotiate and compromise to drive consensus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts to a broad range of technical and business audiences, including technical and business executives.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with project management experience.
  • Understanding of Cloud Services including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS with knowledge of virtualization techniques such as VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft.
  • Understanding of AC and DC power systems as they relate to Telecom and Enterprise network and server infrastructure components.
  • Network/routing protocols including MPLS, BGP, SIP, DWDM, SONet/SDH, Long-haul & Metro Transport, Ethernet, IP Peering Fiber Optic Outside Plant as well as VoIP technologies.
  • Experience with IP Address management and subnets.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. The pay range at the time of posting in the specified locations is $ 120,000- $130,000/year. Pay ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience.
