Waukesha County Technical College is hiring for an Institutional Research Analyst. This individual will work closely with program development and evaluation as well as institutional research to provide assistance on projects; compile, code, and tabulate data; conduct focus groups, etc. Assist with state reporting requirements (e.g. graduate follow-up survey).

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Prepare project-related reports, documentation, and presentations.
  2. Enter, compile, code, categorize, calculate, and tabulate information or data using a variety of software and data formats.
  3. Coordinate, conduct, analyze and report results of state-mandated surveys (e.g.graduate follow-up).
  4. Provide timely, readily accessible data acquisition, information and analysis for college staff that can be used in decision-making.
  5. Perform collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, including focus groups, interviews, telephone surveys and questionnaires.
  6. Understand SQL and relation databases and have the ability to apply this knowledge in support of college activities.
  7. Provide consultation to departments/staff regarding the design and interpretation of data reports which address their unique needs. Run, interpret and customize reports to provide basic information to stakeholders. Respond to data/information requests.
  8. Develop online surveys to support data gathering for the department.
  9. Keep current in the field of educational and institutional research including developments in computer hardware and software technology by attending conferences, seminars, reading technical journals, etc.
  10. Provide support to the program development and evaluation coordinator, if needed, to design and conduct needs assessment studies for new instructional programs and/or conduct quality reviews of programs.
Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of and proficiency with data reporting tools, online survey tools and statistical software such as SPSS.
  • Fundamental understanding of social science research methods and practice, including protection of human subjects/confidentiality.
  • Working understanding of qualitative research methods.
  • Intermediate level of statistical knowledge.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening, working one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Ability to conduct and coordinate multiple activities/projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage time and prioritize work and meet overlapping deadlines.
  • Orientation to detail and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Intermediate level computer software application skills in word processing, Microsoft Excel and databases.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, business management, education, data analytics or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 2-3+ years of professional experience, preferably working on research projects and/or data reporting, including collecting, compiling, checking, and analyzing data; or equivalent experience in an academic setting (e.g., a research assistantship).

This position supports the Institutional Research and Effectiveness department and available to start on/or before May 15, 2024.
