Job DescriptionThe MAARS Activity Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of evening activities, supervises the Residential Advisors, and chaperones the MAARS Program participants on cultural and enrichment activities. Reports to the Center for Science & Math Education Education Coordinator.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
  • As a MAARS Activity Coordinator, you will be responsible but, not limited to the following:
  • Develop student activities that enhance social and cultural life, leadership training, risk management, and other relevant areas of college life
  • Be visible and available for all scheduled activities
  • Provide student supervision and direction of activities
  • Support the goals and objectives of the activities
  • Coordinate and schedule activities
  • Serve as a resource person
  • Supervise transportation arrangements
  • Guidance in problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Supervise the handling of activity expenditures
  • Appoint Residential Advisors to all student activity groups
  • Oversee inventory and storage of equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of two years of successful work experience in coordinating activities of young adults
  • This temporary Summer (6-week program) Full-Time position requires mainly afternoon, evening, and weekend hours.
  • Ability to foster and develop working relationships and a sense of community with a broad range of students and staff in a culturally diverse environment
  • Demonstrate theability to build a co-operative, co-curricular program that blends entertainment and fun with individual awareness
  • Must reside at the TSTC housing facility during the 6-week period
