The Technical Specialist, Routing & Switching will be responsible for day-to-day operational troubleshooting and service activations. Assist with programs and projects approved by management, assuring sound technical knowledge. Interface with internal engineering teams equipment manufactures and facility service providers for seamless and uninterrupted network performance. Act as a technical resource in the digital switching environment to recommend technical requirements and system design specifications for new and existing applications as well as improving processes to increase customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  1. Perform tasks related to customer interaction, installs, troubles and sales meetings.
  2. Frequently interact with Vendor/manufacturer on complex issues.
  3. Internal technical expert that may interact with senior management on assigned projects.
  4. Provide technical support for interaction and definition of activity with new customers.
  5. Responsible for providing a high level of technical expertise. Converts high level application designs and system flows into working applications.
  6. Performs additional related duties as requested or required
  7. Ensures network optimization through analysis of switch logs; discovers anomalies and proceeds with corrective action; responds to any outage.
  8. Plans and installs network changes or additions i.e. software changes and hardware cabling and installation.
  9. Responds to department's informational and service related needs
  10. Investigates new and used equipment for recommendation and purchase; finds ways to improve or cut network costs through efficient equipment, etc.
  11. Performs additional duties as requested or required.

Requirements:

  • BS in engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of telephony experience in a carrier/LEC environment, ISDN, DS-1, Centrex, IP-PBX and inter/intra-LATA switching.
  • Knowledge of 3GPP, ETSI and GSMA standards for mobile systems.
  • Knowledge of SMS/MMS standards.
  • Knowledge in the operation of Voicemail Platforms.
  • Knowledge of TDM and Ethernet testing practices and methodologies.
  • DMS10/C15 experience preferred.
