Assistant Professor, Philosophy and Religion and College Chaplain

Job Description
LAKELAND COLLEGE, an independent liberal arts institution located in east central Wisconsin, and related to the United Church of Christ, seeks qualified candidates for the combined position of Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religion, and Chaplain, beginning in August 2016. The successful candidate will be able to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses in ethics and Christian thought, and contribute to Lakeland’s interdisciplinary Core curriculum. The successful candidate will also be a person with a strong character and personal faith who has a broad and inclusive understanding of campus ministry as it relates to a Christian chapel program, pastoral care, service ministry, theological reflection, and the religious needs of a college community. Ordination in the UCC or other progressive Christian tradition is desirable, but not required. Candidates should provide evidence of the ability to work effectively with undergraduates and colleagues, and demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching, advising, and pastoral care.
A Ph.D. in Christian Ethics or a related field is required for the rank of assistant professor; applicants who are ABD may be considered, but only at the rank of instructor. Undergraduate teaching experience is preferred.
