Stone House Development was formed in 1996 by Helen Bradbury and Rich Arnesen . Since then, they have successfully completed seven historic renovation/Section 42 properties, ten new construction Section 42 properties, an office/retail building, as well as several consulting projects. The first Stone House property to be completed was the School House Apartments in New Glarus, Wisconsin. Upon completion, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and received a Certificate of Commendation from the State Historical Society of Wisconsin.

Stone House's second redevelopment project was the Marshall Apartments in Janesville, Wisconsin. This project involved the adaptive reuse of the historic Janesville High School. The property was given the 1999 Best Private Development Award by the Wisconsin Downtown Action Council. The project was 100% completed in mid 1999.

The third Stone House project was the historic Mineral Point middle school which completed its lease up in 2000. This all-stone building has been renovated into eleven unique, mixed income apartments. The project received permanent financing through the WHEDA small project bond program and received a Preservation Award.

The fourth Stone House project was the Shoe Factory Apartments in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. This historic renovation was placed in service in December, 2000. The building contains 50 apartments with 37 set aside as affordable. The Shoe Factory Apartments received the 2001 Preservation Award from the Dodge County Historical Society.

The fifth Stone House project was the School House Apartments in Jefferson, Wisconsin. This historic renovation was placed in service in November, 2001. The building contains 35 apartments with 30 set aside as affordable. The property received the Wisconsin Mainstreet Award for Best adaptive Reuse Project.

The sixth Stone House project was the Amity Apartments in West Bend, Wisconsin. The building contains 36 apartments with 31 set aside as affordable and was renovated in 2004. The property received a 2004 Historic Preservation Award for renovation, rehabilitation and re-use by the Wisconsin Historical Society.

Since 2004, Stone House renovated a 55-unit school in Wausau, Wisconsin which was awarded the 2006 Wisconsin Historic Restoration Award from the Wisconsin Historical Society, and constructed ten new construction, multi-family properties in Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay and Wausau. These properties consist of:
