Company History:

For over 40 years, Gammex has been a leader in the manufacture and distribution of Gammex Lasers patient alignment systems and RMI Quality Control devices for diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology. Founded in 1969 by Dr. Charles Lescrenier, Gammex introduced lasers into radiation therapy departments for use in precision patient alignment. In 1987 Gammex acquired Radiation Measurements, Inc. (RMI), founded by Dr. John Cameron as an entrepreneurial spinoff from the University of Wisconsin.

Together, the two companies expanded to manufacture not only lasers but also quality-control test equipment for diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, mammography, CT, and therapy. The companies worked closely with medical physicists and university research departments around the world to develop breakthrough devices using laser technology, electronics for detecting and measuring radiation, and advanced materials that replicate the human body.

Gammex's long history of innovation continues today. The company currently holds more than 20 patents and numerous licenses for its unique devices, several of which have set international standards for quality control. For example, all patients undergoing radiation therapy or treatment planning are now aligned using laser positioning systems. By collaborating with universities on NIH grants, the company's continued innovative research has resulted in market-leading test devices in ultrasound and computed radiology.

Gammex is committed to continue to lead the industry in developing tools that will make procedures easier and faster, help ensure patient safety, and improve quality assurance for the radiology field. Gammex has sales and manufacturing facilities in the US as well as sales and service offices in England and Germany. Certified by numerous standards agencies, the company supplies manufacturers, hospitals and clinics world-wide.
