Community Service Reinvestment Act

The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), enacted by Congress in 1977, is intended to encourage depository institutions to help meet the credit needs of the communities in which they operate, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.

At Bremer, we not only follow CRA guidelines, we actively look for opportunities to assist in the economic and social development of our communities. We accomplish this in several ways:

  • Bremer employees are actively involved in nonprofit organizations that target community development, many providing leadership by serving on the Board of Directors of these organizations.
  • Bremer makes financial contributions that target community development needs in the form of grants from the Otto Bremer Foundation as well as donations from Bremer affiliates.
  • Bremer also donates time and expertise by providing financial information to members of our communities. For example, Bremer affiliates host complimentary homebuyer’s seminars several times throughout the year, which provide information and guidelines to first time homebuyers.

    Bremer realizes that our success is dependent upon the success of our communities. This is why we fully support the CRA.
