Community Outreach to Veterans

OBJECTIVE To learn to use our community resources to the fullest advantage.

Vet Centers provide readjustment counseling and outreach services to all veterans who served in any combat zone. Services are also available for their family members for military related issues. Veterans have earned these benefits through their service and all are provided at no cost to the veteran or family. The Department of Veterans Affairs Vet Center program operates a system of 232 community based counseling centers. The Vet Centers are staffed by small multi-disciplinary teams of dedicated providers, many of which are combat veterans themselves.

The mission of IVAW is to mobilize the military community to withdraw its support for the war and occupation in Iraq. To achieve its mission, IVAW emphasizes three distinct goals: Immediate Withdrawal Reparations Full Benefits Iraq Veterans Against the War has also passed resolutions opposing the war in Afghanistan, in support of non-violence, and opposing the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy.

The mission of the Michigan Association of County Veterans Counselors is to assist veterans and their families in obtaining any and all county, state, and federal benefits to which they are entitled.

The Wisconsin Job Center system delivers services through locations in 57 communities throughout the state. The centers are part of the workforce system led by Wisconsin's 11 independently operated, regional Workforce Development Boards. Job Center partners include Job Service, Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), technical colleges, county human service agencies and other community organizations.

Veterans Affairs (VA) offers world class medical services to eligible veterans everywhere.

The Lake County Veterans Service Office is committed to providing professional and courteous service to veterans and dependents while striving to ensure they receive the maximum benefits and services they are entitled to. Individual right to privacy and confidentiality is always respected.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit service run by veterans that works to relieve the educational debt of veterans who are serving and have served in the US Military. Currently, many service members who receive higher education during, before, or after their service have to take out costly loans to pay for their education. While there are military educational programs that help relieve this educational debt, not all veterans are covered under these programs. Leave No Veteran Behind addresses this issue by taking private donations and applying them directly to veterans’ student loan accounts

Veterans Industries vocational rehabilitation program is designed to assist veterans to re-enter the workforce, while providing employers with qualified and motivated workers. Through negotiated contracts with industry, business, organizations, government and educational institutions in the Madison area, Veterans Industries provides transitional work opportunities to veterans, while providing a solution for employment and production needs.

Marine For Life is a Marine Corps organization that provides nationwide assistance to Marines who are returning to civilian life; Marine reservists; and all Marine veterans throughout their lives. Marine For Life also assists Sailors who have served with Marine Corps units. The goal of Marine For Life is to harness the skills, contacts and personal and professional networks of Marine Corps veterans and others in the community—to form a network to help Marines.

Marine For Life’s ultimate purpose is to maintain a mutually beneficial, lifelong relationship between the Marine Corps and Marines who leave the Corps. We help ensure that all honorably discharged Marines can remain a part of the Marine Corps family and benefit from our Marine-friendly network of support.
